we are on the hunt for a motivated and talented chef manager to run malt and co café, located in the heart of db breweries, otahuhu.
we are looking for a chef/manager to take food to the next level, elevating the classics, implementing new food trends, and producing super tasty breakfast and lunch options.
our customers at this site have diverse food preferences and dietary requirements, so the ability to be creative and cook a wide variety of cuisines is essential.
in this role you will be a hands-on chef actively involved in the creating, cooking and presentation of all food, as well as the day-to-day running of the café.
when required, you may find yourself making barista style coffees or jumping on the till to serve and process payments.
another key aspect of this position is catering for onsite functions which may require flexibility in work hours to meet set timeframes, as well as excellent planning, organisation and delegation skills.
your ability to manage food and labour costs within budget, as well as your creativity and eye for presentation will see you on the road to success in this position.
in this large, fully equipped kitchen you will have the support of one catering assistant to assist with producing the best food service in the industry.
this position requires a chef with a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, who can:
- prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine
- monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
- create menus to cater for a varied clientele and dietary requirements
- manage food and labour costs within budget
- discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
- implement new zealand food control and safety regulations
- maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
- demonstrate great communication skills and moderate computer literacy
- show a flexible, can-do, committed attitude
