job description
the market access associate director will be responsible for all aspects of the pricing and reimbursement process in mexico, including but not limited to independently leading and coordinating cross-functional projects, managing the preparation of reimbursement dossiers in cooperation with distributor partners, negotiating with payers, responding to payer questions, managing prices, and developing business cases for new launch approvals and/or price changes.
key responsibilities:
1. develop market access materials (price and reimbursement submission in mexico, responses, price analysis) for vertex medicines leading up to and during their launch.
2. ensure optimized listing at the national compendium (mexican general health council) for innovative vertex products.
3. ensure listing at major public institutions (imss, imss-bienestar, issste, pemex, sedena, semar, ssa/insahe) for vertex products.
4. ensure reimbursement for vertex therapies by local private insurance companies.
5. equip the commercial team with locally relevant economic value messages and drive internal and external training on health economics value propositions for vertex therapies.
6. support proactive monitoring of health policy and reimbursement policy changes in mexico (public and private).
7. lead the development of solid business cases per country/product for obtaining internal senior leadership approval.
8. create innovative offers and access programs, preparing and leading payer negotiations in close collaboration with the country commercial lead and market access distributors lead.
9. ensure pricing compliance in assigned territory, manage country prices and analytics, and maintain updated pricing systems, while collecting local market insights, rules, and regulations.
10. work closely with vertex’s commercial, finance, medical, legal, marketing, and market access international teams, building and leveraging relationships with relevant stakeholders.
11. exhibit ownership and accountability for all projects and internal assignments.

required education level
1. master’s or bachelor’s degree in a science/analytic field or healthcare professional.
2. extensive experience within the health economic arena.
required experience
1. strong experience in launching rare disease portfolios leading market access hands-on activities in mexico.
2. sound understanding of the healthcare system, reimbursement system, and p&r submissions in mexico.
3. excellent negotiation skills with payers.

1. ability to think strategically and make sound pricing and market access insights/recommendations.
2. the ideal candidate should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
3. strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to communicate complex concepts and negotiate with others.

6. strong analytical skills with proven ability to effectively analyze data sets to determine trends and inform strategies.
7. fluent in english and spanish.

• ability to travel up to 30% within mexico and internationally when required.
