Reports to: quality manager
the role
are you an engineer with a sharp eye for detail? As our metrology engineer, you’ll be in charge of managing all our measurement equipment and making sure our products meet the highest quality standards. You’ll work closely with the plant to ensure everything is running smoothly and accurately. If you love working with data, solving problems, and ensuring precision, this role is for you!
what you'll be doing:
1. kpi tracking: monitor lab kpis to make sure we’re always hitting our targets.
2. calibration pro: lead the calibration efforts for all equipment, making sure we’re aligned with msa standards.
3. quality studies: oversee repeatability, linearity, bias, and bias studies to ensure accuracy and reliability.
4. layout design: create component and assembly layouts to keep everything organized and running efficiently.
5. support across the plant: provide support for dimensional analysis, npi (new product introduction), and other tasks to ensure smooth operations.
6. tool evaluation: evaluate and optimize the measurement systems on the production lines.
7. ppap assistance: help with the creation and review of ppaps for new parts.
8. material inspection: assist in the release of raw materials during incoming inspection.
9. cmm management: program, validate, and maintain all cmm machines (pcdmis).
10. team leadership: guide and mentor junior engineers in the calibration and metrology team.
11. quality responsibility: own the quality of products in relation to your role.
12. compliance: ensure your work aligns with quality, environmental, and safety standards (iatf16949/iso9001/iso14001).
13. safety first: if something’s unsafe or doesn’t meet quality standards, you have the authority to stop it.
14. new product support: help integrate new products and line transfers by ensuring the right equipment is in place.
15. training: create and lead training programs to keep the team up-to-date with quality standards.
16. continuous improvement: lead projects to improve processes and reduce risks.
17. environmental awareness: promote and follow the plant’s environmental policies, ensuring everything is handled properly.
what we’re looking for:
education: bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent).
language: intermediate english (able to understand and engage in conversations).
experience: 5+ years in a similar role with strong knowledge of iso/iec17025, iso10012, iso9001, iso14001, iatf16949.
* certified internal auditor (iso9001, iso14001, iatf16949).
* experience in manufacturing processes, interpreting technical drawings, and document control.
* familiar with aiag core tools (apqp, ppap, msa, spc).
* basic problem-solving skills (8d, a3).
* proficient with statistical software (minitab).
* experience with cmm machines (pcdmis), autocad, solidworks, and gage track.
* strong communicator and team player.
