role description
the sr. Hr generalist is responsible for effectively managing and executing comprehensive human resources functions within the organization, ensuring proper processes for hiring, developing, and retaining the workforce. The role involves maintaining a positive work culture, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting operational efficiency. Collaborates with management to implement hr strategies aligned with company objectives to enhance employee satisfaction, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
this role's work schedule will be the 2nd shift (afternoon into evening).
primary responsibilities
employee relations:
* monitor and review daily absenteeism reports, proactively informing production supervisors to ensure timely follow-up and the correct application of measures in accordance with internal work regulations (rit).
* manage and resolve disciplinary cases across all organizational levels, implementing appropriate corrective actions in strict compliance with the federal labor law (lft) and rit policies.
* lead and execute employment termination processes, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with company procedures at all levels.
* facilitate effective communication meetings with employees, responding to requests from cross-functional teams and/or union representatives, fostering transparency and engagement.
* serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and complaints, conducting thorough investigations and ensuring timely, fair, and compliant resolutions.
talent acquisition and recruitment:
* provide active support throughout the recruitment process, ensuring the attraction and selection of top talent.
* collaborate closely with the recruitment and selection lead and departmental managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective strategies for onboarding and integrating new employees.
* ensure a seamless and successful onboarding experience for new hires, promoting their swift adaptation and engagement within the organization.
training, development, and performance management:
* support the formation and continuous development of high-performance teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence.
* actively participate in the design and implementation of training programs aimed at enhancing employee capabilities and driving performance improvement.
* identify skill gaps through analysis and feedback, and recommend targeted development solutions in coordination with the training specialist.
* contribute to the execution of training and development initiatives, monitoring their effectiveness and proposing adjustments to maximize impact and alignment with business objectives.
* assist in performance evaluation processes, guiding employees and managers to set appropriate goals.
legal compliance:
* ensure compliance with mexican labor laws and other regulatory requirements related to human resources practices.
* oversee the execution and enforcement of hr policies and procedures, guaranteeing alignment with legal standards and internal company guidelines.
* prepare, generate, and submit accurate and timely hr reports for government agencies and internal audits, ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance.
hr administration:
* maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and files, ensuring full compliance with company policies and applicable legal requirements.
* support the payroll process by conducting ongoing audits of overtime schedules, working hours, time punches, and other employee data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
* perform data audits and ensure the accuracy of information within the tress and plex systems.
* manage employment terminations and execute personnel changes within the tress system in a timely and compliant manner.
* actively participate in the preparation and management of annual hr budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
* analyze hr metrics, reports, and databases to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
* create and track purchase orders (pos) for external services, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes are followed.
* actively engage in company events and hr initiatives, fostering a positive organizational culture and employee engagement.
* ensure that external hr service providers deliver services in accordance with established contracts and procurement agreements.
* lead and support the execution of various hr initiatives—both local and corporate—coordinating with relevant departments to guarantee successful implementation.
* promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing opportunities to optimize hr processes, systems, and policies.
* collaborate with operations and management teams to design and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
health and safety:
* collaborate with the ehs&s team to ensure a safe work environment, supporting accident investigations and reporting, as well as activities related to asset security in compliance with oea certifications.
* coordinate/request evidence (camera footage/records) to support investigations.
* provide follow-up for employees with different conditions to ensure timely reintegration into assigned operations or evaluate other alternatives.
* ensure compliance with l3.
qualifications
* bachelor’s degree in administration, psychology, or related fields.
* 6+ years of experience in a similar hr role, preferably in manufacturing.
* fluent english communication skills.
* strong knowledge of mexican federal labor law (lft).
* hris system experience (tress / plex).
* experience with iso, ctpat & oea certifications.
* strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* experience in recruitment & hiring procedures, onboarding, training, organizational development, and union relations.
* familiarity with hr policies.
* proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
