the logistics team at whatnot focuses on all things shipping for our sellers and buyers globally, including global carrier integrations, providing tools to sellers to ship quickly and efficiently, opening up new lines of business, showing accurate tracking to buyers, and more. Logistics is deeply connected with the foundations of our business and unlocks tremendous growth while creating exciting new ways for our users to have the highest quality shipping experience with whatnot.
in this role, you will have the opportunity to build systems and features to help whatnot continue to grow at a breakneck pace. We're looking to make a number of improvements to the logistics domain at whatnot, including implementing a robust carrier-first architecture and engineering for massive scale and global reach.
team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our los angeles, san francisco, or new york hubs.

as our next backend engineer you should have:
5+ years of software engineering experience, plus:
* bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
* excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution.
* you can mentor others and prioritize building inclusive, supportive teams.
* project owner - you’ve strong ownership instincts and can own projects from inception to production, and beyond.
* you are known for shipping products and features lightning-fast.
* you’re an excellent problem solver and don’t need to be told exactly what to do.
* you’re open to doing frontend work when required.
* ability to pick up on new technologies very quickly.
* proven track record of delivering features.
* experience with payment systems, infrastructure, experiences, and international commerce (nice to have).
* startup experience at a high-growth company (nice to have).
salary: $185,000/year to $205,000/year + benefits + equity.
the salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits or equity.
