Job summary: the sourcing manager is responsible for supporting the organization in meeting its daily responsibilities aligned with its strategic goals. This role will support the americas region but is expected to work with other regions especially when it relates to global suppliers to share best practices and standardize global processes where applicable.
responsibilities:
* supervises a team of sourcing specialists and drives them to meet our organization’s goals and objectives.
* localize suppliers to improve lead time, cost, and agility.
* responsible for timely part setup and associated data enrichment in oracle system so that purchasing can place purchase orders in a timely manner.
* drive expansion of regional sourcing to improve supplier on time delivery, optimize supplier delivery agility and minimize tariff impact to total cost.
* negotiate cost reductions with suppliers in line with category manager’s strategies. Align with category manager on strategies and preferred supplier list.
* expand site cost reduction pipelines and lead execution of cost reductions.
* work cross functionally with planning, materials management, procurement, operations, master data management, engineering, and quality groups to improve internal processes related to supplier management, supplier evaluation, developing suppliers otd capability, managing transfer projects among suppliers and supporting insourcing/outsourcing flex programs.
* support vertiv’s strategic objectives by working to ensure supplier performance meets/exceeds needs of internal and/or external customers.
* partner with operations teams on supply chain initiatives
* assist in management and facilitation of supplier performance and business reviews.
* supports category managers with data collection and analysis in support of strategic sourcing projects and category managers.
* lead and supports data analysis for total cost of ownership (tco) to support category and/or negotiation strategies.
* supports and in some cases leads project management activities for strategic sourcing projects.
* builds relationships with business stakeholders that facilitate the realization of strategic and financial value.
education & certifications:
* bs/ba in supply chain, business, engineering, or related area. Preferred
* 7-15 years’ experience in sourcing/supply chain/purchasing/planning
* ism or apics certification (preferred)
* certification in lean, six sigma, continuous improvement/operational excellence preferred (green belt, black belt, lean certified etc.) .
