position overview:
develop and execute global sourcing strategies for direct material (truck up fit equipment and/or assigned items), leveraging synergies across the enterprise and driving a “one supply chain” philosophy. Plan and implement activities for timely, cost-effective procurement, quality products, planning and on-time delivery of assigned category products. Prioritize and maintain balance between cost of acquisition and cost of possession to maximize return on investment including methodologies to maximize working capital.
essential duties and responsibilities:
1. identify and evaluate potential suppliers in latin america who can meet the quality, cost, and delivery requirements of our manufacturing sites.
2. negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company.
3. develop and implement sourcing strategies that align with the company’s long-term objectives and growth plans.
4. conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the supply chain.
5. work closely with internal teams (e.g., engineering, production, quality assurance) to understand their needs and integrate these into supplier selection and management processes.
6. assess and mitigate risks associated with supplier performance, geopolitical factors, and economic conditions.
7. develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
8. lead supplier sourcing, evaluation and selection, negotiation, performance monitoring, relationship management, and continuous improvement.
9. develop and maintain strong latam supplier relationships, including supplier site visits and relationships at all levels of their organization.
10. track and report on supplier strategies, monitoring spend, business allocation, capability gap analysis and facilitate cross-functional review and evaluation.
11. provide benchmarking studies, market analysis, and implement best practices across the enterprise.
12. organize and lead regular strategic supplier business reviews.
process responsibilities:
1. oversee the end-to-end sourcing process, including supplier selection, negotiation, and procurement activities.
2. ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the sourcing process.
3. generate regular reports on sourcing activities, supplier performance, and key performance indicators (kpis) for management review.
4. continuously evaluate and refine sourcing processes to enhance efficiency.
5. implement best practices and new technologies to streamline procurement activities and reduce cycle times.
6. maintain accurate and comprehensive records of supplier agreements, contracts, and communications.
7. ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audit and compliance purposes.
8. assist in the development and enhancement of processes, systems, and reporting capabilities to drive efficiencies in providing regional procurement services.
9. help improve processes and leverage technology to reduce costs, identify and implement best practices, and measure performance.
10. contribute to total cost of ownership (tco) reduction efforts and initiatives to achieve the benefits.
11. assist in the improvement of systems and work processes.
supplier continuous improvement:
1. provide training and resources to suppliers on quality standards, process improvements, and compliance requirements.
2. foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the supplier base.
3. drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance.
4. facilitate regular performance reviews and feedback sessions with suppliers to identify areas for improvement.
5. collaborate with suppliers on innovation projects to develop new products or processes that can add value to the company’s supply chain.
6. encourage suppliers to share their technological advancements and industry insights.
7. organize and execute regular supplier site evaluations and audits.
qualifications and skills:
1. 5-8+ years related experience in a supply chain or procurement role related to direct material (truck up fit equipment).
2. bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
3. purchasing in a manufacturing/engineered product environment.
4. interfacing with manufacturing engineering and program management teams.
5. experience in executing global supply chain initiatives and strategic planning.
6. experience in global procurement and sourcing.
7. c.p.m., cpsm, or cpim certification is preferred.
8. ability to travel domestically 25-50%.
9. ability to travel internationally as required.
10. ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
11. strong foundational knowledge and acumen in procurement and category management.
12. ability to manage long lead-time product deliveries in support of production.
13. working knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes.
14. thorough knowledge of purchasing law and uniform commercial code.
15. strong organizational, analytical and negotiating skills.
16. excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
17. excellent ability to analyze, evaluate and report procurement information and data to inform management decisions and track outcomes.
18. advanced knowledge of microsoft word, excel and project.
19. thorough understanding of financial impact of decisions.
20. previous erp/mrp experience.
