job summary
prepare and coordinate the production workflow for one or more product families by optimizing resources and meeting customer service and inventory targets.
responsibilities
1. prepares schedules and ensures timely completion of work orders for manufacturing processes.
2. drive customer service and inventory results for their assigned codes.
3. analyzes product demand, sales patterns, forecasts, production specifications and plant capacity data.
4. identifies raw material and component requirements for production from engineering and production.
5. attend integrated production team (ipt) meetings at least three times a week.
6. reviews support documents for scheduling such as route sheets, enters all requirements into the planning system or process as required.
7. monitors planning modules or production planning systems with current lead times and related information.
8. monitors and identifies opportunities for improving lead times.
9. act as the business unit manager’s customer service champion and recommend actions to achieve service and inventory objectives.
10. provides guidance on any activity that affects capacity required to achieve the short-term production volume.
11. reviews capacity loads and identifies possible manufacturing constraints.
12. ensures resources required for production.
13. provides weekly and daily direction to the manufacturing business unit manager and leadership team to ensure required production levels are achieved.
14. ensures systems data integrity and accuracy of signals.
15. ensure optimum mix of codes and quantities are scheduled within available capacity on a daily basis.
16. work with supply planner to identify proper allocation of scarce raw materials.
17. identify root causes to issues and recommend corrective actions affecting ability to run the short-term production plan.
18. responsible for creating icos necessary to support planned events / base business.
19. responsible for bom accuracy in conjunction with the be department.
20. responsible for managing / mapping capacity within the advanced planning system.
21. prepares production/planning reports as required.
22. analyzes month end activity to determine the need for forecast modification.
23. provide information as necessary to track/trend customer service, inventory and performance metrics.
24. establishes effective communication with various groups such as customers, sales offices, and/or plant production departments as required.
25. participates in new product launch meetings and assist in developing new product forecasts and production schedules.
26. lead and identify improvement opportunities for plant or manufacturing unit supply s&ops as required.
27. identify opportunities to improve inventory investment through inventory entitlement model for applicable production line.
experience and education
* 6-8 years of experience in manufacturing is preferable.
* a minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
* certified in production and inventory management (cpim) or certified in supply chain planning (cscp) is desirable.
required knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications/licenses and affiliations
* data mining reporting skills through ms-excel (or equivalent) are required.
* data mining/reporting skills through sql tools are desirable.
* advance planning systems (aps/apo) experience preferred.
* excellent oral and written communication skills.
* excellent interpersonal relationship skills are required.
* ability to function independently while supporting the overall team’s goals.
* working knowledge of financial processes desirable.
* erp/planning systems concepts user/knowledge required.
* proficient user of ms office, excel, word, powerpoint.
