Ingredion is seeking a payroll specialist to enhance our payroll team. The payroll team provides support to the america’s based businesses in the areas of payroll processing & controls, payroll related reporting, audit support and payroll analytics. The payroll specialist role will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and will report directly to the payroll supervisor.
responsibilities:
1. own and manage workflow of pay groups as assigned to ensure bi-weekly payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner
2. process and audit employee updates as it relates to compensation, job changes, transfers, garnishments/levies and terminations
3. resolve payroll discrepancies, process adjustments, manual checks
4. provide excellent customer service to employee, vendor and manager inquiries
5. responsible in ensuring that the appropriate approvals are received from the sites and performs follow-ups when required.
6. respond to tax notices and all other mailings
7. complete verification of employment and unemployment requests
8. respond to internal/external audits and reporting requests with the analyst
9. work closely with team lead and supervisor to continuously improve skills and knowledge of payroll
10. willingness to accept and complete other projects as assigned
11. enforce and maintain sox & racm compliance for policies and procedures
12. escalate issues that arise with urgency
13. other duties as assigned
requirements:
14. university degree in accounting or related field
15. 2+ years payroll experience including both exempt and non-exempt payroll and knowledge of union implications to payroll related processing
16. strong knowledge of policies and procedures of payroll
17. demonstrated ability to handle confidential material
18. advanced computer skills, including excel
19. excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
20. strong organizational and time-management skills
21. high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
22. excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills
23. demonstrated understanding of multi-state wage and labor laws
24. excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills
