opening in early 2027, the omni pontoque resort at punta de mita will be omni’s first owned and managed property in mexico. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as the opening director of sales & marketing to establish omni’s presence in mexico.
the ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, revenue-focused luxury experience, with mexico resort experience preferred, and a solid background in group, catering, and leisure business. Based either remotely in the us or on property in punta de mita, you will engage in identifying and hiring “best in class” managers and support in the areas of group sales, catering, convention services, marketing, and revenue management. this individual will lead, motivate, and support the team while maintaining strong inter-departmental communications. This role contributes to the overall direction of the hotel and effectively manages all sales and marketing expenses while focusing on exceeding pre-opening targets, budgeted revenues, and established revpar goals.
this position is based remotely in the us or on property in punta de mita and reports to the regional director of sales and marketing & the hotel general manager. Us-based locations with strong direct flights into puerto vallarta may be preferred.
essential job functions:
1. design and implement marketing collateral and digital support materials to launch and promote the resort in partnership with the omni marketing team.
2. hire, build, manage, and lead a successful sales team, ensuring productivity, development, and alignment with revenue goals.
3. drive group room revenue and adr targets while developing and executing strategies to generate hotel revenue across all segments.
4. develop, implement, and manage creative sales packages and proactive solicitation efforts to fill identified need periods.
5. oversee the development and execution of budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management strategies to maximize profitability.
6. control sales and marketing expenses to ensure optimal operating profits while maintaining compliance with omni brand standards.
7. foster visibility and brand awareness through active involvement in local activities, trade shows, and industry associations.
8. ensure effective communication and reporting, including customer updates, administrative processes, and timely report submissions.
9. promote and implement corporate programs to enhance customer awareness and ensure delivery of omni hotels & resorts benefits.
10. lead strategic planning, monitor sales goals, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive long-term growth and success.
skills & requirements:
1. strong experience in luxury resorts, preferred mexico experience, with bilingual skills (english/spanish) a plus.
2. expertise in account planning, customer relationship management, and setting mutual expectations.
3. ability to lead and direct teams, manage internal/external resources, and communicate across all organizational levels.
4. skilled in business planning, budget management, financial analysis, and refining customer value propositions.
5. proficient in strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and managing multiple priorities, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

qualifications:
1. director of sales & marketing experience in an upscale luxury hotel/resort, experience in mexico preferred.
2. must have a minimum of 10 years of senior sales and/or marketing leadership experience managing more than 10 employees.
3. college degree or equivalent experience.
4. proficient in the use of excel, word, and access database tools.
