pilot plant engineer internship - full time - oberwinterthur, switzerland

we are looking for an intern pilot plant engineer to join our chemtech, technology and innovation, team in oberwinterthur.
join our r&d team for six months, where you'll have the opportunity to develop new products for the chemical industry and sustainable technologies, such as carbon capture, bio-refineries, and emission control.
as a trainee in our separation technology business unit, you’ll be part of a dynamic team driving projects from the ideation phase to market-ready solutions. You’ll gain exposure to developing essential products like structured and random packings, trays, internals, separators, and static mixers—working on in-house and client projects that are diverse in nature and pivotal for the industry.
your main tasks and responsibilities:
* collaborate in the development of structured and random packings, internals, and related products.
* conduct tests in hydraulic test rigs, absorbers, and distillation columns, dedicating most of your time to hands-on product testing and development.
* document, evaluate, and interpret experimental results to produce data-driven insights.
* support the enhancement of our testing facilities and design new test setups.
* participate in the full product development lifecycle, from ideation through market-readiness, contributing to impactful projects.
to succeed in this role, you will need:
* pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, or a related field, with strong knowledge in mass transfer and/or separation technology.
* previous experience in data visualization and analysis, with the ability to interpret and document findings effectively.
* basic mechanical skills and hands-on experience with pilot plants are beneficial.
* proficient in microsoft office; experience with cad and programming skills is a plus.
* able to prioritize tasks, collaborate well within a team, and bring a proactive and innovative mindset to the table.
* fluency in english, other languages welcome.
