inviting applications for the role of lead consultant – sql dba
• in this role, you will be responsible for recommending, implementing, and supporting sql server db technologies in a fast-paced environment, requiring good communication skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects.
responsibilities
1. diagnose and resolve problems around database performance, capacity, replication, t-sql, etc.
2. proactively monitor databases for errors and respond quickly and effectively to troubleshoot and resolve ongoing db issues on all cai environments dev/qa/prod.
3. maintain/monitor systems on-prem or in aws/azure.
4. coordinate and schedule db downtimes to perform db maintenance procedures, i.e., db patching, upgrades, etc.
5. define backup and recovery strategies using technologies used at cai: netapp snapshots, snapcenter/snapmanager for sql, idera sqlsafe or native sql server backup/recovery tools.
6. perform advanced database administration activities including but not limited to: db performance tuning, t-sql tuning, backup and recovery, and db disaster recovery solutions.
7. create/update cai’s database documentation about standard procedures, db technology features, or production issue troubleshooting.
8. stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise.
9. support highly available production systems using the following technologies: database mirroring, log shipping, windows/sql clustering, availability groups.
10. work with development teams to deploy code in production when needed.
11. participate in on-call rotations.
qualifications we seek in you!
minimum qualifications / skills:
1. bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
2. excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
3. strong communication and collaboration abilities.
preferred qualifications/ skills
1. ability to work independently and as part of a team.
2. ability to work with minimal direction, yet also able to work in a team environment.
3. working knowledge of linux and shell scripting.
4. experience configuring database network connectivity.
5. understanding of database backup and recovery techniques using rman and network appliance filers.
6. experience with high volume websites that use multi-tier architectures is a significant plus.
7. understanding or experience using oracle real application cluster’s and implementation best-practices.
8. experience in oracle database technologies.
9. prior experience writing pl/sql triggers and/or procedures.
10. experience with database sql and database tuning.
11. experience with oracle goldengate.
12. experience developing ansible playbooks is a plus.
13. experience supporting database infrastructure in the cloud (oci, aws, azure).
14. ability to analyze existing systems and make recommendations on which technology best suits the business requirement for high availability, disaster recovery, or high performance.
15. experience setting up and managing oem 13c.
