Electrical engineer
fpc bangor is working with a manufacturing facility that has an urgent need for an electrical engineer. The successful candidate will be part of the maintenance engineering team to help develop e&i best practices, standards, ensure nfpa compliance, provide infrastructure maintenance, and project development.
responsibilities:
1. ensure that safety is a value with all activities performed and support the facilities safety program.
2. assist with reporting safety incidents, ensuring standard operating procedures are up-to-date, work requests are entered, lockout tagout procedures are correct, etc.
3. monitor, maintain, and improve power systems including uninterruptible power supplies (ups) and plant power distribution.
4. provide technical support for electrical and control systems including, but not limited to process control, distributed control systems (dcs), programmable logic controllers (plc), human machine interfaces (hmi), control networks, data acquisition (scada), instrumentation, valves, variable frequency drives, motor control centers (mcc), and panel boards.
5. assist with installing and programming equipment.
6. assist with training electricians and those that would like to be electricians in the future.
7. supervise the nfpa ppe program:
1. in charge of maintaining the glove program to ensure we are in compliance with nfpa 70e guidelines.
2. in charge of ordering the correct arc-rated ppe (such as arc suits, face shields, etc) for electricians.
8. serve as electrical project team member for capital projects for both electrical and mechanical improvements.
9. prepare and manage project files, record drawings, equipment records, and related project documentation.
10. perform other duties as assigned by electrical superintendent.
11. provide support for electrical and mechanical crews, including hourly and salary.
12. follow proper protocol for providing weekend duty coverage.
qualifications:
* bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering field desired, however 3-5 years equivalent work experience in the electrical industry is suitable.
* ability to work effectively and supervise various groups of people, including unionized work force.
* must have strong communication skills, (i.e., interpersonal, written and verbal). Needs to have the ability to lead a group to a quick decision or make a timely decision on their own.
* desired computer skills are microsoft office (outlook, word, excel, power point, and project), cmms experience, and willing to learn autocad.
* self-directed and motivated to complete special projects.
* able to multi-task efficiently under demanding circumstances.
* organized, attention to detail, and able to manage numerous initiatives simultaneously.
* must be eligible to work in the u.s.
