To design, develop and implement manufacturing processes considering tools, equipment, layout, facilities and systems to create safe and quality product with a competitive cost and optimum performance. Creates and documents process standards and work instructions, focused mainly on new products, new processes and productivity. Analyzes data from manufacturing processes related to time studies, layouts, etc. and continuously improves process performance in safety, quality, cost, etc.
responsibilities:
* assist problem solving activities related to major downtime, quality or safety issues by: analyzing boms, interpreting drawings, engineering specifications and can consult sap transactions to support production in engineering related problems.
* coordinate and implement activities or npd projects with minimal supervision of a senior engineer or supervisor (engineer & pilot runs, pre-production preparation, etc.)
* validate critical new or modified parts in manufacturing process with control runs or other tools for the cqp and ppap process.
* support and track quality system tools and procedures including spc, pfmea, and engage activities to improve operational kpis and/or solve quality related problems; maintain work instructions and iso 9000 and chamberlain manufacturing system documentation.
* create temporary process deviations documentation (pcos) for process and material changes when required and implement ecn activities regarding manufacturing processes.
* participate in problems solving for systemic improvement activities and root cause analysis for critical quality issues.
* design, quote, purchase and implement fixtures, tools, workstation improvements, equipment, and processes, etc. to support npd, productivity, new processes and continuous improvement.
* apply lean manufacturing and six sigma tools and principles to different areas or plantwide projects to improve manufacturing, material flow and process overall performance.
* audit and maintain industrial engineering process information like time study, standard work, capacity, line balancing; create, update and audit process layout when changes are being implemented.
* calculate monthly staffing according to demand and process capacity for the area of responsibility (manning).
* implement productivity projects related to labor, overhead and material through engineering tools, process automation opportunities, relay outs, capacity increases, engineering changes, etc.
* audit operational safety risks, job safety analysis (asts) and safety practices for the manufacturing processes and resolve major risk points to reduce operational risk; apply ergonomic principles to process and validate layout and workstations to comply with ergonomic standards.
* manage and lead projects from start to finish understanding constraints and develop schedules to meet target implementation dates for projects assigned.
* develop capacity scenarios and business cases for capital investment; create and manage cprs to achieve committed goal and budget.
