your key responsibilities
manage and support the implementation of import & export trade controls by region and country, in coordination with the region leads
participate and support different investigations of our commercial partners (suppliers & clients) to ensure brp compliance with trade regulations
monitor itar, ear, ecnn, ofac, un, lists and restricted end-users, to ensure brp trade compliance
participate in the implementation of corporate policies in terms of foreign trade; in collaboration with gts legal department and in coordination with key stakeholders in the procurement and sales departments
contribute to the implementation of trade internal audit guidelines to ensure custom regulations are respected; notably from cbp and cbsa, but also from emea, apac & latam authorities
evaluate and measure the efficiency of controls implemented in each region
answer requests from cbp and cbsa authorities, following brp-gts corporate policy
maintain a robust audit trail in terms of classification, origin determination, valuation and fta eligibility
support region compliance audits execution (internal and external), act on improvement recommendations
monitor the compliance of trade programs to support local production (immex, ftz, duty deferral, ipr, opr, bonded warehouse)
identify operations that may bring additional trade risks for brp
support the global trade services (gts) structure in general global compliance
work with the global trade services compliance and strategy team to define/modify the region-specific processes if needed
establish and maintain proper business relations with government and customs authorities
influence regions on trade compliance strategies
your qualifications and skills
5+ years of experience in trade compliance functions
accredited trade compliance certification is an asset
licensed custom broker certification is an asset
professional diploma in a related field; legal and/or paralegal studies in international commerce an asset
in-depth regulatory knowledge of free trade agreements (fta), global trade commerce including compliance, valuation, classification, taxation on import, export, etc.
very good understanding of trade compliance terminology
experience in project management and change management is an asset
fluent in french & english, spanish is an asset
open to travel to regions
diplomacy and proper communication skills (oral & written)
analytical & business thinking
self-motivated and able to work independently
this job will be in valcourt, but with the possibility to be in the montreal office.
