Job description:
position summary:
performs a variety of professional level engineering duties. Test engineers create and implement test cases, including documenting defects and failures, to ensure a quality product.
primary responsibilities:
* set up, program, and run test lab equipment
* design tests to ensure customer specifications are met
* provide feedback to program engineering, r&d engineering, and advanced engineering on tests requested
* perform failure analysis on tests that do not pass test specifications
* troubleshoot lab equipment failures and help to resolve issues quickly
* prepare test reports for external and internal customers
* provide feedback on test results to external customers and be available to attend customer meetings
* work with lab technicians with a goal of minimizing ltr’s past due
* ensure the accuracy and consistency of data results through thorough documentation processes
* must operate in a manner that reinforces, supports and is consistent with the cooper standard leadership model
* ensure 6s, housekeeping, and health & safety standards are maintained
* contract, schedule, and supervise tests with sub-contracting facilities
* may, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
education and qualifications:
* four year college or university degree or equivalent
* two to four years of relevant work experience
* fabrication, blueprint reading skills, and equipment knowledge preferred
* knowledge of statistics
* strong mechanical aptitude, as well as technical and analytical problem-solving skills
* skills or working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
* good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environment
* proficient in microsoft office applications
* good verbal and written communication skills
* strong organizational skills
* recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area without supervisory approval; evaluates and selects solutions from established alternatives
* impacts own team through the quality of the services or information provided; follows standardized procedures and practices and receives regular but moderate supervision and guidance
* exchanges information and seeks understanding
* willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
