Job summary*:amentum* is seeking an advanced level industrial *bms (building management system) technician* to join our team.
this *bms technician* is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing all aspects of the building automation systems in a large-scale multi-purpose complex.
the bms technician must have the ability to maintain, improve, and participate in troubleshooting the associated hvac equipment serving the spaces monitored.
the bms technician must have a unique skill that combines computer-based programming, electrical controls, and steam/condensate knowledge to understand a buildings sequence of operation.
this knowledge enables visibility and control to a pre-determined computerized program that balances air handlers, exhaust fans, and chilled water systems for personal comfort in office space or in a variable temperature and humidity conditional research space.
the *bms tech* monitors all aspects of a building's temperature and humidity and is capable to calibrate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of electronic/pneumatic control devices throughout the sites hvac system using siemens and honeywell software/programs.
this position may collaborate with more advanced specialized technicians or subcontractors to perform facility related repairs.
effectively communicates with the site management, control room operators, amentum technicians/mechanics, team, and the customer to understand requirements and solve complex monitoring and control problems.
the *bms technician* must have the ability to identify and correct any safety related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
general maintenance of equipment may be required.
*essential functions*:
- diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs bas systems and equipment as well as related mechanical equipment and systems such as hvac and process utilities such as steam, chilled water and reheat water.
performs and assures calibration and maintenance of instrumentation, equipment, and controls for optimum performance.
- responsible for vivarium lighting including up to the lighting relays.
- performs change control process' for any requests for modifications to the current control set up.
- responsible for all controller cpus, proprietary communications bus (cbus), bnas (building network adapter) and the server cat 6 cabling to the field devices.
- finds solutions and assists with procurement of spare parts.
- identifies and documents cost savings.
- performs preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled in the computerized maintenance management system (cmms).
- follows and makes edit recommendations of site operations procedures for equipment and recommends facilities reliability improvements.
- develops and maintains good working relationships with other technicians to ensure effective troubleshooting and repair of equipment and systems.
- utilizes strong mechanical skills in order to complete assignments.
- responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
- under general supervision, performs tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity.
relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems
- understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
- safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing ppe as required.
- operates various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
- operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
- maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment.
- flexible in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

minimum requirements:
- high school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- six years of experience as a bas/bms technician or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
- must be willing to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
- this position may require a valid driver's license.
preferred qualifications:
- associate degree in electronics or instrument controls technology or work experience
- licensed in ct e1, s2, or e2
- experience troubleshooting bas systems and controls
- pneumatic valves, actuators, thermostats, and pneumatic controls experience
- knowledge of 0-10, 2-10, and 4-20 milliamp loops
- experience on use of meggers, voltmeters, and multi-meters used in troubleshooting activities
- knowledgeable of nfpa 70e code
- experience with a cmms environment preferably eams
