Baker corporate services, a partner of baker electric home energy, is hiring a pv designer i in our tijuana, mexico office.
the pv design engineer will be responsible for the design of solar projects and to ensure that prescribed activities are documented in accordance with baker electric home energy's specified objectives for the successful permitting, procurement, and completion of the project.
responsible for ensuring drawings and designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards.
they may prepare project schedules, bids, or proposals.
using site audit and contract information to complete pv design packages.
the packages will consist of electrical, structural and layout design work that follows building and electrical codes as well as jurisdictional requirements for permitting.
essential duties and responsibilities:
provide expertise with residential projects and incorporate into high level system design work
create drawings for proposed rooftop and ground-mount systems, drafting system layouts/single line diagrams and site maps, including output circuit details, combiner boxes and overcurrent protection selections.
design & maintain advanced research and development efforts knowing safety & code standards
perform ampacity, voltage drop, conduit fill, load calculation, and other preliminary engineering calculations while following standard methodologies.
collect, manage, and analyze data for design and engineering projects.
function in a multi-discipline project team environment to deliver quality design projects and technical reports on assigned projects.
understand local jurisdictional requirements in and around southern california, as they pertain to the design and installation of solar and energy storage systems.
collaborate with the project managers, sales & the executive staff.
perform engineering calculations per the nec and building codes to properly size equipment
follow standard operating procedures and protocol to ensure accuracy of design layouts
site-specific production analysis of pv arrays using existing industry models

education, skill, experience:
solar industry experience preferred but not required.
autocad and/or sketch-up experience required.
bi-lingual (spanish/english) written and verbal communication, project management, task management, and client relations skills.
excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and complete a variety of simultaneous tasks required.
a bachelor of science, or associates degree in engineering or an industry related discipline is preferred.
