this role is in the shared capabilities organization and is part of the team responsible for designing and building thomson reuters' new global design system, that will support all our online products.
collaborating with various design teams, we will build a system that will allow our design and engineering organizations to create valuable products and experiences, consistently and efficiently.

as a key decision-maker on the design system team, you will engage with diverse product and technology stakeholders on the journey to design and deliver a best-of-class enterprise-ready ui/ux experience for our customers.
as an technical product owner, your role will involve close collaboration with the senior product manager, design system director, design manager, and engineering manager to bring our vision to fruition and achieve our desired outcomes.
*about the role*:
- facilitate and lead sprint ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives, ensuring actionable outcomes and alignment with agile methodologies.
- manage and prioritize the product backlog, including epics, features, and product backlog items (pbis), ensuring clarity, prioritization, and alignment with team capacity.
- collaborate closely with the scrum master and discipline managers (ux, uxe, sde, accessibility, and content) to ensure smooth coordination and delivery across all workstreams.
- translate the quarterly roadmap into actionable backlog items in partnership with the senior product manager, ensuring readiness for sprint execution.
- create and maintain dashboards and queries in azure devops to track bugs, feature parity work, and progress against sprint goals.
- coordinate refinement sessions with cross-disciplinary team members, identifying priorities and refining requirements for both community and internal tickets.
- draft, communicate, and publish sprint highlights, release notes, and key updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- monitor and respond to community support tickets, coordinating resolutions and maintaining communication with submitters to ensure feedback loops are closed.
- work cross-functionally to deliver high-quality components and features, aligning requirements with engineering, design, and content teams.
- maintain internal documentation, including atrium pages, process workflows, and visual aids (e.g., lucid boards), to support team transparency and knowledge sharing.
*about you*:
at a minimum you would need these to be successful in this role:
- 3-5 years of experience as a product owner, business analyst, product manager on a technology product.
- proficiency with front-end technologies, including html, css, and javascript, and experience working with web components, react, and angular.
- hands-on experience managing backlogs using tools such as azure devops or jira.
- strong understanding of agile methodologies, including scrum, with a track record of coordinating backlog work for multiple sprint teams.
- ability to clearly communicate and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-growing environment.
- proven ability to track and report on metrics related to product development and team performance using dashboards and data visualization tools.
- exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., aoda) and a commitment to building inclusive digital experiences.
*nice to haves*:
- experience working with design systems or shared platform products, including reusable components and patterns.
- knowledge of design workflows and familiarity with tools like figma to align with cross-functional design system efforts.
- understanding of mvp approaches for component development, with a focus on delivering scalable solutions for a variety of use cases.
