within six months prove technical, market, and financial viability of the skylight design s.a. de c.v. business model, while preserving shareholder equity during this proof stage.
2.
assuming business model is proven viable, scale up the business to at least 100 skylights/month within next 12 months.
desired outcomes in phase 1 (months 1-3):
1.
obtain customer feedback, identifying needed changes to the product, the target market, pricing, service level (including lead time), or the distribution model in order to be successful with prismatic skylights in mexico.
2.
define all building code requirements in mexico which the product must meet.
complete all certification tests as appropriate.
3.
costs held low, preserving equity in phase 1.
desired outcomes in phase 2 (months 3-12):
1. Review the web site for skylight design s.a. de c.v. which communicates key information for customers and influencers, and portrays the company as a professional organization with a superior product and service offering in mexico.
get at least one marketing campaign in place within 2 months of starting.
2.
build a lean organization which, in collaboration with replex and steel complements teams, can sell skylights, coordinate quality, stock, packaging, and logistics in order to offer customers a "wow" customer experience.
3.
build a budget, approved by the shareholders, as well as the basic office infrastructure to manage this budget and provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the shareholders.
4.
implement the key strategic success factors learned in phase 1 which will ramp up sales to 150-200 4'x8'skylights per month or more.
this could be prismatic skylights, zazil skylights, or both.
5.
develop a plan and a budget for continued scale-up in months 12-24.
competencies:
1.
must be bilingual in order to communicate effectively with both shareholders, as well as with staff of steel complements and replex.
2.
must understand the difference between searching for a business model versus implementing a business plan.
phase 1 is the search phase, and is the entire foundation for the business.
this phase cannot be skipped over.
3.
sales ability.
the gm must be able to manage the entire sandler sales process and sandler submarine from rapport building through post-sale service.
if not previously sandler trained, must be willing to go through sandler training.
the gm will also be required to manage a sales team, training new sales people to follow our chosen sales process.
4.
financial acumen.
the gm must be able to understand the p&l, balance sheet, and cash flow statements of the organization.
the gm must oversee bookkeeping operations and collaborate with the shareholders on setting and attaining financial objectives.
5.
skylight and commercial construction knowledge.
the gm must become the face of skylight design.
as such he/she must be able to talk the talk with industry veterans in roofing and commercial construction.
the gm must have sufficient technical acumen to be able to understand all the major elements of skylight technology sufficiently well to incorporate that into an effective marketing campaign.
6.
leadership skills.
the gm must be able to recruit, train, lead, and manage the growing team of people within skylight design.
this includes all aspects of the organization including marketing, sales, finance, purchasing, manufacturing, and installation.
