responsibilities
the opportunity
the senior manager, portfolio of the future is responsible for identifying and shaping new innovation opportunities (focused on horizons 2 and 3) within the foods category for the pepsico latam region. This includes leading the ideation process, securing strategic approval in a senior innovation council, validating concepts with consumers and target markets, and subsequently handing off viable projects to the commercialization and local marketing teams for execution through a formal stage gate process. This role ensures alignment with global category and sector strategies while also scanning for opportunities in emerging or adjacent categories to drive increased net revenue and shape the future of the company.
your impact
as senior manager, portfolio of the future (pepsico foods) – latam your scope would consist of:
1. ideation & strategic approval
o own the ideation pipeline: lead brainstorming sessions, consumer trend analyses, and market explorations to generate forward-looking product ideas and business models.
o strategic review & approval: present innovation concepts to a senior innovation council for validation and prioritization, ensuring alignment with both global and sector objectives.
o future-proof concepts: validate ideas against evolving consumer behaviors, market trends, and technological advancements to ensure long-term relevance.
2. alignment with global & sector strategy
o strategic roadmapping: translate global category and sector business objectives into a cohesive innovation roadmap specifically adapted to latam market dynamics.
o new category exploration: identify untapped category opportunities and propose strategic expansions or disruptive innovations that drive incremental net revenue per project.
3. handover to commercialization
o stage gate coordination: once projects are approved, work closely with r&d, supply chain, and local marketing teams to hand over concepts into a formal stage gate process for detailed development.
o cross-functional collaboration: ensure all stakeholders—insights, operations, finance—are fully briefed on project scope, objectives, and timelines.
4. continuous improvement & feedback loop
o insightful handover: provide comprehensive documentation and key learnings to marketing and commercialization teams for each new concept.
o feedback integration: while post-launch evaluation is managed by the commercialization teams, collaborate with them to capture insights and performance data. Use these findings to refine future ideation processes, driving a cycle of constant enhancement and innovation.
qualifications
¿who are we looking for?
* education: bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field; mba or master’s degree preferred.
* experience: 8–10+ years in product innovation, marketing, or category management in fmcg (food industry exposure preferred).
* track record of leading successful cross-functional ideation and innovation initiatives.
* regional knowledge: in-depth understanding of latam’s consumer markets and cultural nuances.
* languages: proficiency in english and spanish; portuguese a plus.
