in this position you will be responsible for carrying out safety, health and environmental program supervision activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, municipal and corporate legal requirements.
your responsibilities will include:
* implementing company ehs programs and developing facility specific procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
* participating in the development of ehs program components: operational procedure, work instructions, training material, standards, etc.
* integrating company and facility level ehs management systems to maintain compliance, environmental protection and safe operating conditions.
* reporting & documentation: integration of environmental, health and safety management systems with engineering and program documentation and schedules to maintain regulatory compliance and safe operating conditions.
* reducing liability within a facility and ensuring all safety and environmental recommendations are completed and documented.
* compiling process safety information for each covered process and keeping it readily accessible to process employees and management as well as updated on an annual basis.
* using a structured processes scorecard to measure and communicate safety/environmental performance with both leading results and indicators.
* tracking and regularly reporting the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives.
* maintaining all governmental and corporate database records.
* training, resource & counsel: organizing and controlling the eh&s functions of the site to ensure that an effective accident prevention program is maintained, and that appropriate measures are taken to comply with corporate.
* ensuring that the company stays in compliance with company & client policies and procedures as well as federal and state laws.
* providing advice and counsel to product and process engineers and leads to incorporate environmental health and safety principles and concepts to prevent workplace, operational hazards and environmental impacts.
* acting as a resource and mentor to facility safety teams.
* investigating all releases, injuries and near-misses.
* compliance & safety programs: maintaining each facility's compliance records for permits. Reviewing federal, state and local regulation changes that impact permits and permit compliance.
* identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices and developing hazard control practices and programs. Maintaining msds system.
* reviewing plant incident statistics and making recommendations for correction of problem areas.
* conducting periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and sanitary standards and regulations.
qualifications
what we will be looking for in you:
* bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, chemical environmental engineering or related field preferred
* good knowledge of regulatory requirements and ehs policies, procedures and programs
* experience in life safety codes: ehs rules, training, principles of occupational safety and health, and industrial hygiene
* good communication skills and the ability to relate well to others
* an organized way of working and attention to detail
