the americas data center environment is a fast-paced, demanding environment that requires a specialist to successfully multi-task bau, technical request, and repair activities.
*key responsabilites*:
- installing/de-installing/relocating all distributed systems, network and all data center hardware.
(servers, enclosures, standalone, routers, switches, encryptors, firewalls, etc.)
- installing/extending/relocating all carrier circuits to the network hardware.
- installing/de-installing/relocating all patch panels and cabling for systems and network hardware, using structuring cabling.
this activity is executed with excellent quality and with previous site surveys and measurements; additionally, labeling is performed for each single fiber or copper, using plastic pallets and standard labels.
fibers and copper trunks, are also installed.
- assist with any on site validation for hardware, network, names, or ports, with an approved ticket.
- managing network ports and assist with all consumable capacities.
(cables, labels, rail kits, trks, patch panels, etc.).
- maintaining the integrity of the data center facilities, systems, and communications environments through general housekeeping practices, walk-throughs, and best operations practices.
- classify, clean, control, and have everything in order inside our burn in room and component room.
- provide hands-on, break/fix level 2 support for the data center systems and communications environments on a 7x24 basis.
- answer and validate all incoming calls to our hot-line for data center access and break-fix reports.
- once planed change controls are validated, assist to open the data center service door to allow vendors or technical support access.
- review, analyze, validate and flow trellis tracks for all devices installed at the data center.
- actively participates on all conference calls for new projects and initiatives.
- assign rack location for new carrier devices at telco rooms.
- when requested, with an approved change control, execute cabling test with fluke network devices.
- ensuring compliance with data center standards, policies, and processes for all non-dcsd sponsored changes.
- manage cti-approved third party vendors in support of local business service commitments and to assure adherence to corporate and cti standards.
- provide clear and detailed turnover to next shift workers for continuity.
- reviewing current day scratch list.
- when required, prepare manual move lists.
- replacing any damaged media with approved tickets.
- performing daily tape ejects to increase current day processing capacity.
- monitoring of tape related console messages, working with the global command center and the on-site hardware teams, responding when necessary.
- responding to automated trouble tickets and assist performing level 1, 2, and 3 break/fix activity for trouble related hardware and software.
- managing all physical and electronic vaulting activity, vertices.
- prepare transfer documentation for media transfers.
- understand the etm/ctr process and prepare appropriate documentation.
- creating, maintaining, and distributing offsite vendor slot capacity metrics.
- responsible in following best practices and processes in degaussing and wiping of all hard-drives.
- performs random audit checks and sampling.
- remain current with all global procedures and provide input when appropriate.
- participates in projects relating to tape/media.
- modify retentions of different environments production or uat (unisys, tandem) with an approved ticket.
- process of re-labels tapes for the infrastructure net-backup when it is requested with an approved chg ticket.
- assisting in supporting all reconciliation and qa efforts including: trellis, vertices, and hard-drive inventory levels.
- daily coordination of end-to-end management of all inventory requests including installs, de-installs and redeployed equipment with the team
- ensure accurate and concise documentation is maintained at all times
- ensure all equipment is properly labeled, bar coded and received in the systems within established slo's
- maintain asset management policies and procedures throughout device lifecycle
- perform inventory audits on a weekly basis to ensure adequate consumables are available for use and place order requirements for purchasing replacement stock
- responsible for all shipping, receiving and tracking of all incoming or outgoing equipment
- assist in the coordination of project related activities outside of business as usual (bau) activities
- ability to lift 50 pounds
- participates in physical reconciliation efforts
