This is a lean six sigma continuous improvement position. The sr. Kaizen engineer shall utilize the below listed quality and continuous tools and skills to identify waste in all processes from new product development design through customer receipt. The purpose is to identify waste and implement optimal mistake-proof methods to ensure the lowest cost at six sigma quality level. Will interface with management, project leaders, and personnel across the organization to achieve the required deliverables.
job duties:
* facilitate the development of site master plan to deliver long and short-term business objectives through system deployment and capability building focused on alignment, the elimination of waste, and 100% employee engagement.
* utilize lean manufacturing tools and work experience to process map work functions and perform value stream mapping to identify waste and non-value-added activities.
* assist in the writing and checking of documentation that ensures capability and first-time yield. Streamline processes to reduce lead time, rework and ensure 1st pass yield.
* utilize six sigma tools to measure work process capability, identify processes with less than 1.33 cpk.
* participate on all new product development project teams and cost reduction teams to support project manager and implement effective tools to ensure first pass yield and prevent incapable methods from being introduced into processes.
* coach and train others through the lean and six sigma tools, motivating others to utilize and apply correctly.
* implement meaningful and objective data collection and present to management for prioritizing continuous improvement cost reduction projects/activities. Monitor and track savings and projects from productivity.
* prioritize by objective data, primarily analyze statistical data to identify opportunities in the process and reduce variation.
* capability of leading, working independently and on cross-functional teams across the organization to achieve the deliverables.
* develop process improvements that are measurable and have a positive impact on the company’s overall quality strategy, objectives, and goals. Obtain financial savings for more than $150k usd annualized in different projects.
* support and deliver results on the training and awareness of its personnel on objectives, goals, aspects, impacts, improvements and operational controls to raise awareness on environmental care.
* actively participate in the 6s program, which is a critical business objective, ensuring compliance with the program regulations and carrying out the activities that are required as auditor, coordinator, leader or member of the committee.
must have:
* minimum of 5 years work experience in kaizen, six sigma, and lean manufacturing, demonstrating a proven track record of projects and results on savings.
* mature judgment and problem-solving ability to find root causes/solutions associated with returned and rejected products.
* production and/or engineering experience in a related technical field is preferred.
* self-motivated with a persistent and determined attitude when challenged.
* ability to communicate clearly and logically, orally and in writing.
* basic computer skills with knowledge of microsoft word and excel. Microsoft project with the ability to present data in meaningful graphical presentations is preferred.
* english verbal/written proficiency.
