the general manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing both the production operations and sales activities within mexico. The role involves a diverse range of responsibilities and requires a combination of business acumen, leadership skills, cultural sensitivity, and strategic thinking.
reporting to the ceo of bundy baking solutions, this position is vital for ensuring the company’s strategic goals and objectives are achieved effectively, and that the brand maintains a strong presence to achieve success in the market. The primary objective is to drive business growth and profitability by developing strategies that align with the company’s overall vision. This includes conducting market analysis, identifying opportunities for expansion, establishing and maintaining partnerships, managing the local workforce, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and laws. The gm serves as a bridge between the shareholders and the local operations, working closely with both internal teams and external partners to achieve optimal performance and results.
bilingual (english / spanish) - strong english written and verbal communication skills are required.
duties & responsibilities
general management
* strategic planning: align local strategies with the overall goals of the business to create a roadmap that guides the company’s activities and ensures its competitive advantage.
* relationship management: build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, government agencies, and local partners to foster strong partnerships that support the business objectives.
* compliance and legal matters: ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and corporate policies to mitigate legal risks and maintain a good reputation.
* operational performance: provide leadership to the plant manager and team, monitor key performance indicators and overall business performance, keep shareholders updated to provide transparency and insights for decision-making.
* financial management: financial planning, budgeting, and cost control to ensure profitability and financial stability. The plant controller (who reports to the global cfo) will partner with the gm to achieve these results.
sales leadership
* setting strategy: develop and set the strategic direction for sales activities in mexico.
* market analysis: understand the local market dynamics, competition, customer preferences, and trends.
* business development: identify and pursue growth opportunities in the local market. This includes expanding the customer base, forging partnerships, and exploring new business channels.
* building relationships: maintain and develop relationships with key clients.
* forecasting: prepare sales forecasts for the month, quarter, and year.
qualifications
* extensive experience selling to and servicing grupo bimbo bakeries.
* bilingual (english / spanish) - strong english written and verbal communication skills.
* bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
* 15+ years of experience in sales/sales management with strong coaching skills.
* demonstrated understanding of mexico business law (import/export, taxes, licenses, etc.).
