Job description
the mission of the position is to lead, plan, coordinate, implement, and control all supply chain activities and functions to meet budget and supply chain targets (e.g., maximize delivery performance, reduce cost and inventories) and to represent the plant operations unit towards internal and external contacts regarding scm topics. The head of supply chain management initiates, manages, and implements action plans for continuous improvement of all supply chain relevant processes.
responsibilities:
1. lead all supply chain activities and processes for the plant operations unit.
2. define the plant supply chain strategy and translate it into action plans based on plant operations unit, bu scm, and group strategy.
3. set plant operations unit specific scm standards and requirements towards external and internal contacts and ensure implementation based on bu scm and group standards.
4. implement and monitor bu and ct specific policies, procedures, and standards for scm.
5. initiate and manage plant operations unit scm optimization measurements to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost situation in cross-functional teams.
6. contribute to strategic, budget, and operative planning of the plant operations unit (e.g., with respect to investments, inventory, scm costs, capacity, and headcount planning).
7. define scm plant operations unit targets and ensure achievement considering internal and external customer expectations.
8. initiate and implement continuous improvement activities by applying cbs methods and training measures.
9. initiate and control investments for supply chain equipment (e.g., forklift trucks, agv, warehouses).
10. interface with segment, bu, or ba functions to gather local supply chain requirements, demands, and other feedback.
11. represent the plant operations unit towards internal and external contacts regarding scm topics (i.e., process requirements).
12. initiate, participate in, and/or steer local supply chain related and cross-functional projects.
13. participate actively in the activities of environmental health and safety.
14. participate in supplier selection, evaluation, and development.
15. lead change management in plant operations unit scm.
16. ensure compliance in plant operations unit scm.
17. conduct employee dialogues, personnel development, and coaching.
logistics responsibilities:
1. plan and implement supply chain and logistics concepts (e.g., sourcing and delivery concept, requirements regarding flexibility of production setup and machine investments, flow and storage concept into and out of production, material transportation and provision concept).
2. define and ensure operation of internal material handling and transportation (internal logistics) for raw materials and finished goods according to standards and planning.
3. perform inventory and warehouse management (planning, parameter and process settings), inventory handling, and operate all plant internal warehouses for raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods including receiving and shipping.
4. execute operation with external logistic partners (e.g., third-party logistics or consignment stock, freight companies, customs brokers, etc.) according to standards.
5. manage and perform delivery to customers (e.g., transport planning, dispatch), freight management, customs clearance, and packaging management according to standards.
6. participate actively in the plc process and execute logistics planning within customer projects.
7. define plant sc master data and parameter control (e.g., lot sizes, lead times, storage information, etc.) according to standards.
performance monitoring:
1. ensure supply chain performance (kpi) monitoring and reporting (e.g., regarding cost, delivery performance, adherence to schedule, lead time, capacity utilization) in cooperation with bu scm and plant controlling.
2. identify, prioritize, and implement sc process improvements (e.g., by factory layout planning, factory simulation according to standards).
3. ensure supplier scm performance monitoring in collaboration with purchasing.
4. control measures to improve supply chain performance.

qualifications
bachelor’s degree, preferably in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, business engineering, or a related discipline.
at least 5 years of professional experience in various supply chain and logistics functions; cross-functional experience (e.g., in engineering, quality, purchasing, or lean manufacturing) preferred.
experience in supply chain and production processes.
3 or more years in a leadership position, preferably in operational units with functional or disciplinary responsibility for other individuals.
experience in working with international teams on supply chain topics and understanding of foreign cultures.
fluent level of english (interviews will be in english).
