*the role*:
*the responsibilities*:
- hardware replacement of faulty core network equipment.
- identify affected customer and backbone services for scheduled maintenance windows using the network inventory system.
- monitor backbone network alarms and proactively work on tickets in collaboration with other departments (infrastructure & remote hands) to solve network issues.
- collaborate with transport, netops and neteng departments on projects in order to accelerate knowledge transfer.
- educate, develop and train team members in technical and support center related areas.
- ownership and resolution of difficult issues that require assistance from other departments or vendors.
- document network changes in network inventory systems when a change in a circuit or service is needed in order to fix a problem.
- monitor peering & transit bgp sessions and work with internal and external peers to clear alarms.
- monitor bgpmon alarms, identify route hijacks and route leaks, and work with netops department to solve bgp route issues.
- escalate tickets to internal departments (netops, transport, neeng) or equipment vendors when the troubleshooting requires more technical expertise.
- collaborate with the logistics department to execute the rma process when a faulty hardware must be replaced, providing technical evidence and information of the fault.
- open tickets with circuit and fiber providers when backbone segments are affected.
- manipulate backbone configuration (bgp, communities, igp metrics) to load balance traffic in case fiber cuts events.
- in case fiber cuts, run remote otdr traces to identify the cut location and provide information to the noc team.
- monitor optical transport infrastructure and proactively work in alarms. Follow up with internal departments to ensure service goals are met.
- monitor and fix backbone interface flaps.
- monitor and fix interface errors (inputs & crcs) of core networks elements (ip & transport).
- monitor and fix bfd alarms of the transport network.
- support escalations of the noc l2 team.
- support software upgrades of the core infrastructure equipment.
- support escalation of enterprise services (sdwan, managed security.
- support maintenance windows when a network segment or device will be affected.
- proactively audit the network infrastructure and core services.
- collaborate with third-party support and service vendors to ensure that the network stays operational.
*the requirements*:
- bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, computer engineering, or related field.
- +5 years’ experience managing and delivering network infrastructure and connectivity.
- routing and switching technology experience.
- ccnp level certification or similar.
- comprehensive knowledge of networking and integration - on premise and cloud-based, firewalls, mpls, vpn, bgp, isis.
- knowledge of routing protocols (bgp, ospf, isis) and ip/rsvp and ldp network architecture.
- previous experience working with ip/mpls based services: mpls l3/l2 vpn, metro ethernet services.
- comprehensive knowledge of mef standards.
- demonstrated linux experience.
- experience developing scripts in at least one of the following languages (python, perl, ruby)
- experience with industry standards for circuit certifications/tests rfc2544 and y.1564.
- experience in mpls-tp technology.
- experience in networking in cloud environments (aws, azure, google).
- willing to participate in a rotating “on call” schedule.
- bilingual - fluent in english and spanish.
