this is a hybrid role: requires to work 3 days on site and 2 days at home remote on a full-time basis.
responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* clear understanding of the variations of the global vehicle development process (gvdp).
* clear understanding of the global propulsion system (gps).
* understanding of the similarities and differences between gvdp and gps.
* sap (tooling) knowledge.
* all sourcing and contracting activities including sourcing event bid strategy & management, bid analytics, coordination and alignment of rfq package components including terms & conditions, sor, rfq documentation, lead technical reviews with the bidders, leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment, and management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to gm audit services.
* daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items.
* drive commercial budget activities with a strong focus on cost reduction initiatives.
* review weekly variance report to identify changes in the commodity apv.
* support supply chain activities & disruptions to find alternative solutions, handling capacity tickets.
* support supplier management initiatives including “strategic supplier engagement.”
* keep business overtime strategy, considering all suppliers.
* nurture relationships with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution.
* perform rate management activities including benchmarking, rate analysis, and read-across opportunities.
* participate in supplier performance reviews.
* participate in engineering change team (ect) meetings.
* participate in product development team (pdt) meetings.
* lead btab process when required to support modifications in the footprint of the supplier.
* support nearshoring activities (austin project).
* support & engage in supply chain, resiliency & semiconductor activities.
* update gsm to track every incoming sourcing and give visibility to the company.
* update information of upcoming sourcing activities in the internal pipeline file.
* generate strategies for any incoming sourcing working with engineering, purchasing leadership, and program teams.
required critical skills:
* understanding of the process to manufacture injection molded, rubber, steel & aluminum parts.
* ability to work effectively cross-functionally, both internally and externally, and build relationships.
* experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance.
* demonstrated competence in negotiating skills.
* high level of analytical ability where problems can be somewhat complex.
* experience with supply chain and logistics challenges.
* experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins).
* clear understanding of the material indexation process.
* professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
* developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
* proficient with microsoft office products - word, excel, powerpoint.
* a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
preferred critical skills:
* automotive industry experience.
* knowledge of procurement software.
* knowledge of materials management.
* capable of interpreting market data.
* solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes.
* knowledge of fx indexation.
* ability to work globally, independently, and self-directed.
* able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents.
* ability to travel at least 5% of the time, including international travel.
* knowledge of rubber compounds.
* knowledge of plastic compounds (pp, pa12, tpv).
* knowledge of stainless steel / aluminum alloys.
educational qualifications:
* bachelor's degree or equivalent training/experience required.
* degree in procurement, accounting, business, engineering and/or mba preferred.
