mission of this role:
the mission of this role is to provide a quality product that meets project specifications. Lead efforts in the identification and quantification of system requirements. Provide technical assistance to project teams to ensure they deliver on cost, quality, schedule, and technical goals.
key objectives of this role:
* define and derive concepts and requirements for features and functions of battery management systems, such as monitoring, management, communication, and diagnostics, for xev vehicles, based on system architecture and customer requirements.
* perform tolerance stack-up analysis and support technical design reviews.
* prepare documents and design work products, such as architecture diagrams, sdfmea, fta, systems requirement documents, and isl.
* support development of system-level integration, validation plans, end-of-line testing, and ongoing conformance testing requirements
* trade-off analysis of different software and hardware solutions for electrification products
* align development activities with internal cross-functional teams, customers, and third parties, ensuring compliance with project schedule and applicable regulations.
key performance indicators:
* project deadlines adherence: ability to meet project deadlines for embedded system development, including milestone completion and overall project delivery within scheduled timelines.
* product performance: evaluate the performance of embedded systems developed, including factors like speed, efficiency, reliability, and resource utilization.
* documentation accuracy and completeness: the quality and completeness of technical documentation produced, including design documents, user manuals, api documentation, and release notes.
key year one deliverables:
* problem-solving skills: ability to effectively analyze and solve technical problems encountered during project work. This can be evaluated through their approach to troubleshooting, the time taken to resolve issues, and the effectiveness of their solutions.
* customer satisfaction: feedback from internal or external stakeholders to gauge satisfaction with program execution.
* project contribution: effectiveness of contribution to project objectives, such as completing assigned tasks, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality work products.
qualification, experience and skills:
* bachelor of science / master of science degree in embedded systems, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or applicable areas of study
* +5 years of work experience in automotive system/sys architecture
* detailed technical experience in system definition/concept engineering within battery management systems.
* familiarity with applicable components such as pmic, bmic, sensors, power devices, and soc/mcu used in battery management systems
* experience in fields of control engineering and model-based development
* knowledge of the product development process, from concept to industrialization
* understanding of future trends and technologies for battery management capabilities
* development of electrification architecture concepts, or battery management systems conops (concept of operations)
* understanding of functional safety (iso26262) work products for asil b-d
* communication protocols, such as: can, spi, lin, sent, ethernet, rf, xetk, xcp
* strong knowledge of uds (iso 14229)
* knowledge of power electronics for high-voltage applications
* high-voltage isolation methods and fault detection
* embedded software familiarity (bsw, asw): software architectures (from hardware abstraction layers through application) and integration of third-party sw.
preferred
* understanding of the aspice process.
* cybersecurity (cryptography) is a plus.
* familiarity with the agile/scrum development process is desirable.
