caterpillar is seeking a supplier relationship management (srm) specialist to provide support for indirect procurement and its customers.
in this role, you will perform critical procurement support through best in class processes that are consistent, repeatable, and quickly able to be leveraged specific to supplier relationship management
*job purpose*:
to determine the manufacturing processes, tooling and tool design, and equipment needed to successfully and economically produce assigned parts in accordance with engineering specifications.
*job duties*:
this is a supervisory position responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation by providing tooling, processes, equipment, etc.
needed and is done through coordination of a technical staff assigned to provide for the needs of the shop operation.
assignments include tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc.
and requires the coordination of all disciplines.
incumbents have an assigned manufacturing/assembly area and through staff support provide tooling, machines and equipment to complete the operation.
coordinates the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts.
ensures optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc.
to accommodate the changing production requirements.
coordinates release dates and availability of machines and equipment and material to maintain schedules and satisfy demand.
establishes standards and works with shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, etc.
ensures implementation of modern technology and follows to determine effectiveness of equipment and systems.
coordinates capital projects for process enhancement and to improve customer satisfaction, conducting research and ensuring proper approvals.
keeps abreast of industry changes by attending product demonstrations and identifies ongoing improvements in processes and technologies to better serve customers.
this position may also be responsible for the acquisition of new vehicles and maintaining the fleet for a facility; disposition of surplus machines; investigation, negotiation of contracts, and hiring and monitoring the activities of consultants.
provides training, development and motivation for a staff capable of completing objectives and implementing cost reduction projects and meeting requirements of the manufacturing/assembly process.
the position supervises or manages a work unit of primarily management and salaried employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required.
the position is responsible for expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures, and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of subordinates.
the position often confronts complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis.
problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches.
