we are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of *senior finances business partner*
global finance is integral to hsbc's purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in managing costs and deploying capital in the most effective way.
our global team of finance professionals' partner with the business, functions, and digital business services (dbs) to provide trusted insights and forward-looking analysis, accuracy, efficiency, and control to frame and influence business decisions.
in the strategic cost management (scm) function we provide accurate, relevant, and forward-looking management information (mi), help stakeholders understand tactical and strategic options, make tangible recommendations, and provide analysis to influence and support business decisions.
this senior finance business partner will serve in a key role in americas finance to understand monthly, year-to-date and full-year operating expense results and develop forward-looking cost management strategies for hsbc's global businesses, global functions and dbs and americas operating entities.
*main activities*:
- review monthly actuals to understand the results and provide narrative of cost drivers to executive stakeholders in the business.
- attend monthly cost management forums with the business to review results and discuss strategic actions.
- respond to queries from business executives to help them understand monthly results and conduct scenarios for executing forward-looking cost management strategies.
- provide review and challenge of the consolidated cost mitigation/reduction initiatives.
- prepare and deliver forward looking analysis to identify cost efficiency opportunities and to maximize return on strategic investments.
- meet with head of business, coo and business finance teams to develop an in-depth understanding of business drivers and market conditions under which the business operates.
- raise awareness / align with stakeholders (e.g., the business / coo) regarding accountability for direct costs and indirect costs that are charges to the business.
- highlight risks and opportunities to achieving cost performance efficiency targets.
requirements
- fluent in english
- experience operating in a complex financial services organization (banking preferred)
- execution orientated: proactive escalation of issues whilst maintaining a solution-focused mindset and flexible approach.
- experience interacting with senior stakeholders with varying degrees of financial literacy.
- sound judgment, decision making and problem-solving abilities.
- strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
- strong working knowledge of financial systems (e.g., tm, horis, and similar)
- strong analytical skills, with experience analyzing financial statements.
- understanding of accounting reporting rules: us-gaap and ifrs
- expert knowledge of ms excel and powerpoint
- experience working with automation tools like python, vba or sql is preferred.
- experience working with digital tools for visualizing data such as tableau, qlik, or power bi is preferred.
- strong sense of accountability and a self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
