Responsibilities:
* contribute as a team member on various environmental compliance projects, with a primary focus on air quality and air permits, while also supporting multi-disciplinary environmental compliance programs for industrial clients.
* engage with local regulatory agencies and clients to facilitate permit application review and approval processes.
* prepare emission inventory reports, assess air pollutant emissions, and develop permit applications and modifications.
* conduct regulatory compliance evaluations, assess applicability, and implement environmental compliance management systems.
* assist in the preparation of hazardous materials business plans (hmbps), storm water pollution prevention plans (swppp), emergency planning and community right-to-know act (epcra) reports, wastewater permits, and spill prevention control countermeasure (spcc) plans.
* perform fieldwork, including data collection, air compliance assessments, stormwater sampling, hazardous waste audits, media inspections, and chemical inventory compilation to support compliance documentation and environmental plans.
* develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, erm team members, and subcontractors at the local, national, and global levels.
* support project management activities and demonstrate potential for business development.
* foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence in all environmental consulting work.
requirements:
* bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, environmental, civil) or a related discipline (master’s preferred).
* 2+ years of experience in air quality permitting, compliance, and environmental regulations.
* hands-on consulting or industry experience with knowledge of local air districts (e.g., scaqmd), federal, and state air quality programs, including title v and reclaim facilities.
* strong understanding of pollution control technologies and emission reduction systems (preferred).
* experience conducting air compliance monitoring, assessment, and permitting evaluations.
* field experience in stormwater inspections, hazardous materials management, hmbp updates, wastewater permitting, and swppp preparation is a plus.
* valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently to various client locations across a wide geographical area.

* prior work experience with regulatory agencies, such as:
o los angeles county sanitation district (lacsd)
o south coast air quality management district (scaqmd)
o san joaquin valley air pollution control district (sjvapcd)
o bay area air quality management district (baaqmd)
o regional water quality control board (rwqcb)
o environmental protection agency (epa)
* strong ability to manage multiple assignments while ensuring clear communication with clients and stakeholders.
* ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and travel as needed.
* strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess environmental regulations and implement effective solutions.
* experience managing multiple projects and developing long-term client relationships.
* excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, documentation, and client presentations.
* strong time management, organization, and self-motivation.
* proficiency in ms office suite, particularly excel and powerpoint (advanced skills preferred).
* ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, balancing multiple projects and strict deadlines while traveling as necessary.
* team-oriented mindset, with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
