Schneider electric is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as an advanced manufacturing engineer responsible for delivering automation & technology improvements to our manufacturing processes across the north american region. In this role, using advanced technology, you will be responsible for identifying and driving improvements & capacity of existing assembly and testing equipment or processes. You will also be responsible for the design and development of new assembly lines & testers.
this is an exciting role that will offer much opportunity to grow and learn in a highly technical field. This individual will be tasked with multiple assignments regarding processes spread across the region.
tasks include:
1. ownership of all new capacity investments to deploy the best manufacturing processes.
2. from identified capacity gap or technology roadmap driver, develop automation solution from best available techniques to provide a value-added solution.
3. develop automation concept in conjunction with electrical / controls counterpart and create solution specifications and budgetary targets necessary for rfq.
4. participate in quotation and supplier selection of oem machine tool builder (internal or external).
5. in partnership with automation project manager, provide technical oversight and adherence to project timeline to deliver equipment to targeted timeline.
6. perform oem machine tool builder site acceptance test and validation of process | equipment performance prior to equipment shipment.
7. support process equipment commissioning at factory site as required.
8. perform factory acceptance test once process equipment has been commissioned at the se factory and ensure all supplier contractual agreements are met.
9. ensure all appropriate process equipment project documentation is captured and stored in the appropriate digital system for knowledge retention.
10. collaborate with global sc deployment and industrialization teams in the evolution of the technology applied and documented best available techniques.
11. partner with manufacturing plants in the construction and evolution of the site technology roadmap that delivers technical productivity and supports p&l improvement on the product offers.
12. continuously improve installed base of automation and test equipment used for assembly and testing of se products in nam factories.
13. upgrade and replacement of legacy automation systems to current offers if the process architectures is sustainable and the investments drive solid financial payback.
14. provide direct troubleshooting support and training for local plant resources.
15. identify and implement improvement projects regarding various industrial manufacturing processes. Productivity improvement will be highly regarded.
16. provide advanced manufacturing support for technologies that support smart factory deployment. Those technologies include:
* digital manufacturing-smart factory / machine iiot / data capture and analytics.
* collaborative robotics.
* sgv / agv deployment.
* augmented / virtual reality applications.
qualifications
this job might be for you if:
* bachelor of science with a mechanical or industrial engineering (or other stem) major from an accredited university or equivalent is required.
* 5+ years mechanical / tooling / manufacturing / industrialization engineering experience in an automated industrial environment.
* direct experience using nla (new line architecture), line architecture methodology (ladm); mtm. Line design methodologies.
* proficiency in safety engineering w/exposure to automated machinery safety.
* hands-on industrial automation experience: hydraulics, pneumatics, servo motion, robotics, agv / sgv's, metal forming, resistance welding, z axis assembly, parts feeding, functional testing, labeling, packaging.
* self-motivated to innovate / explore new technologies to constantly upgrade the technology deployed.
* strong problem-solving skills.
* pro-e / creo proficiency.
* preferred schneider electric control component knowledge (modicon, telemechanique, square d, etc.).
* preferred cmse or other safety engineering certification.
* automation & test engineering experience in industrial environments.
* availability to travel.
* english intermediate-advanced.
