controller, head of finance will supervise and improve the standard operating procedures of the company's financial and control systems.
working closely with the corporate accounting department in asia, this key position is responsible to drive efficiencies and local initiatives to enhance the overall performance of the region.
the position will be based in polygroup mexico facilities in juarez, mexico.
travel will occasionally be required to other polygroup offices in the united states and asia.
*primary duties and responsibilities*
drives the regions financial planning, risk management, forecasting and cost analysis.
prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards in accordance with us gaap.
analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide information to the corporate accounting department.
analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close (and year end close) to ensure accuracy and validity of accounting transactions and company books and records and support the monthly close process of 5 business days using the month end close (task) schedule for the company.
perform and review monthly account reconciliations of balance sheet accounts for the location.
responsible to develop and manage accounting functions in sap and coordinate system relationship to the corporate accounting system.
review and improve accounting processes (sops) for the location.
provide support to other company department areas with related accounting data as requested and in conjunction with the corporate accounting department.
prepare detailed accounts analytics.
supervise, support and train other accounting personnel and other department employees in the location.
execute and participate in special projects as needed.
interacts and provides financial support to all operation departments (management and vp).
oversees the monthly financial reports for the location including supplemental reports.
work with external auditors, as needed.
coordinates and authorize the preparation of reports for government agencies (local, state and federal) for the location, particularly the yearly customs report.
advise management on desirable changes due to changing fiscal laws specific to mexico and provides advice on importing and exporting customs regulations.
*education*
bachelor's degree in accounting.
post graduate degree and accounting designation is preferred.
*experience and qualifications*
- 5 to 10 years of accounting and reporting experience.
- strong knowledge in financial reporting, budgeting, balance sheet and cash flow analysis, and gaap accounting required.
- management ability to direct, guide, motivate, and develop staff.
- ability to prioritize for self and others, strong organizational skills.
- strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- excellent analytical and organization abilities.
- self-motivated, team player who pays close attention to detail and who can prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
