*the role*
dematic corp has a need for a controls component engineer in our research and development group.
*primary duties*:
- develop and maintain records of all inventive ideas, designs, and basic improvements
- guide resolution of and document product issues for future reference
- work with customer service department to ensure appropriate product performance
- development of electronic circuits to interface with manual test or process equipment.
- support during the implementation, development, and maintenance of the developed and implemented systems.
- support of global design teams in the definition of the critical parameters to select a component
- interpretation of electronic circuits to be able to decipher their use and mode of operation.
- initiating and sustaining contacts with suppliers and manufacturers, and obtaining information on components (roadmaps, catalog, strategy, etc.).
- working with better/optimized component solution with a details specification comparison study
- part road map process and capable of establishing roadmaps for advanced components
- investigating and promoting alternative solutions for productivity, supply chain disruptions or component obsolescence
- teamwork with different areas within the organization.
- provide guidance and/or training to peers and/or contracted engineers
- participate in and role model an agile/kanban development culture which emphasizes product quality, team accountability, and continuous improvement.
*tasks and qualifications*:
education & experience:
- strong focus on quality through simulation, analysis, verification, and validation testing at the component level, subsystem, and system level.
- advanced troubleshooting and analysis skills are needed to resolve complex development and field issues and to improve overall performance and cost.
- strong knowledge on component life cycle status and related business impacts and risk mitigations
- knowledge on broader component engineering process and component change management process
- familiarity with regulations and standards such as rohs, reach, ul, nema, iec, ansi,
- bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or equivalent field
- discrete semiconductor, analog ic's, passive components
- 3+ years of experience in industry
- strong leadership and analytical skills
- experience with unigraphics nx or inventor a plus
- experience with plcs siemens and allen bradley a plus
