Health & safety manager
f&em, an orbia business, is hiring for a health & safety manager to be based at our mine in san luis potosi, mexico!
job summary/ purpose
to develop, manage and execute f&em's mining sites’ health & safety (h&s) strategy, management system, tools and procedures aligned with orbia’s values, corporate commitments, policies and legal compliance; in order to a) enable a step change on health and safety culture that ensures the safety and well-being of our mining sites’ stakeholders by assuring a safe work environment and minimizing accidents and work illnesses, and b) enhance a management system based on continuous improvement, regular auditing and inspections, and risk prevention.
main responsibilities
1. implementing h&s management system elements (risk analysis, kpis, compliance, procedures, operational controls).
2. assessing and implementing life saving rules and safety fundamentals across operational areas and with contractors.
3. ensuring all risk analysis, investigations, and root-cause analysis are properly carried out, guaranteeing the quality and criteria expected to prevent further injuries.
4. assisting in the strategic implementation of the fatal risk management & safe working procedures program in mining sites.
5. excellence in the follow-up and registration of h&s kpis, accidents record using osha methodology and tracking investigation action plans.
6. identifying, analyzing, and mitigating all operational risks at mining sites by developing preventive plans to avoid accidents, emergencies, and occupational illness.
minimum qualifications
1. mining sector experience.
2. osha safety indicators (ltir, trir, and dart) & root-cause-analysis methodologies.
knowledge/ experience required
1. strong management of data analytics and reporting platforms.
2. strong knowledge of ohsas indicators such as lost time incident rate (ltir), total recordable incident rate (trir), & days away, restricted or transfers (dart).
3. solid management and training on/for risk analysis identification.
4. accident and incident follow-up frame management, as well as preventive actions.
5. knowledge of mexican legislation: health & safety, mining, labor, and environment.
6. solid management of root-cause analysis methodologies (5ws, ishikawa, icam, etc.) & risk-analysis methods.
7. outstanding project management and follow-up skills.
8. skills to communicate and present h&s topics to a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
