*qualifications required*:
*education - *spanish and english fluency required. Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, food science, or related discipline required. Additional certifications including master’s degree or phd a plus. Additional sensory, culinary, and/or consumer insights experience/degree required.
*experience - *requires 5+ years of relevant product development and/or research experience in tequila, including doctoral or post-doctoral research. Should include experience leading cross-functional project teams.

*functional requirements*:
deep knowledge of tequila liquid and process development is required. The role requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge in other technical fields. The individual must demonstrate deep accountability for the end-to-end project execution.
*liquid/process development*:
- has developed a good range of key technical process skills in tequila/mezcal processes, like, maturation, filtration & blending. Agricultural science is a plus.
- experience in formulating beverage systems, with a confirmed understanding of flavor chemistry, distillation/fermentation, building liquids for shelf-life, and microbiology/preservation.
- grounded with deep sensory and consumer insights to support early scoping work for more ground-breaking innovation; able to translate creative ideas into tangible & profitable business opportunities
- creates products from deep consumer and market insights to assist marketing in building better ideas and unique product claims; defines the right products for research to improve learning.
- track record of descriptive & discrimination tasting experience required, resulting in exceptional winning liquids that beat competition/benchmark
- independently creates an inquisitive design and formulation strategy. Aligns strategy with the manager, marketing, and sensory/consumer planning
- experience with pilot barrel trial letdowns: filling barrels, pulling samples, high-level liquid evaluation, filtration trials (with support from tequila specialist team)
