we have a vacancy for a senior day ahead power trader: congestion to join our us team based in austin, texas. This role will predominantly be based on-site in our austin office.
you will be responsible for:
leading the development and decision-making processes for day ahead (da) commercial models for grid-scale storage resources. Executing da process on behalf of several client portfolios and ensuring alignment with our team of real time (rt) traders. Developing strategies for managing portfolios of energy storage, wind, and solar assets within ercot and other wholesale power markets with specific focus on transmission congestion impact. Supporting the development of new internal products by working with habitat's team of data scientists and software engineers to define performance metrics, market rules, and commercial strategies. Communicating portfolio management strategies to clients and tuning internal tools to client risk parameters. 'must have' skills and experience: at least 2 years of experience trading virtual and/or asset-backed positions in at least one major us power market (ideally ercot). Experience building and maintaining models for trading and/or risk management in power markets with specific experience with point-to-points, ftrs/crrs, or other congestion-related products. Proficient in excel and/or python and comfort managing large datasets. Demonstrated passion for trading and the us power markets. Strong quantitative skills including understanding of finance, mathematics, and statistics. Attention to detail and comfort making sound judgments under pressure. Ability to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. 'nice to have' skills and experience: experience managing energy storage resources. Experience structuring products related to carbon offset, long-term financing of renewables, or energy storage assets. Familiarity with financial derivatives, options greeks, market making & market microstructure. Experience and confidence presenting to clients, board members, and prospective clients.
