general background
the united nations high commissioner for refugees (unhcr) has a mandate to provide international protection and search durable solutions for refugees and stateless individuals.
in mexico, unhcr works by providing technical advice on asylum matters and refugee status determination, along with their respective procedures.
it also collaborates with relevant mexican authorities to identify individuals with international protection needs, particularly focusing on the identification and protection of special groups such as unaccompanied or separated refugee children and adolescents, victims of human trafficking, and stateless persons.
in partnership with mexican civil society organizations, unhcr also supports the strengthening of mechanisms and initiatives that promote and facilitate the integration of refugees and stateless persons in mexico.
2.
purpose and scope of assignment
a.
provide information and guidance to refugees, asylum seekers and internal displaced persons, on access to rights and unhcr integration programs.
- respond and provide information to information queries on integration cases.
- channeling cases to field offices for eventual attention and follow-up.
- support in the follow-up of scholarship program beneficiary cases.
b.
follow-up of cases for family reunification and naturalization
- document cases for naturalization for referral to partners.
- coordinate with field offices to follow up on reunification/naturalization.
- support in registration and procedures related to access to naturalization/reunification.
c. Support in the compilation of information and data for periodic reports
- maintain up-to-date data collection on beneficiaries and impact indicators (health, training, documentation, among others).
- updating reporting bases in coordination with comex areas.
- preparation of documents or presentations on program development and impact.
d. Implementation and monitoring activities within the local integration program (pil)
- monthly or emergency reception of pil groups and support in their transfers.
- support in integration activities during the induction week.
- facilitation of space with key actors during the induction week.
- closing of activities and recording of logs.
- monitor cases in accordance with the program guidelines.
e. Other unit activities
- perform other tasks as necessary.
3.
monitoring and progress controls
- the contractor will contribute to implementing local integration programs in mexico, coordinated by the durable solutions unit and with the field unit in aguascalientes, within the national strategy for durable solutions.
- support in the implementation of activities, projects, and programs that promote and facilitate the inclusion of persons of interest (asylum seekers, refugees, beneficiaries of complementary protection, stateless persons, internal displaced persons), through access to public programs and the exercise of rights such as family unity, health, education and recognition of knowledge, among others.
- information collected for weekly and monthly reports.
- number of persons of interest served and channeling to programs that facilitate local integration.
- final evaluation where the progress of performance and the development of agreed objectives will be reviewed.
- as an active unhcr team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly, and high-quality support rendered to unhcr and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions.
- all unhcr staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description.
