The indirect purchasing category leader is responsible for leading strategic sourcing activities across all aspects for indirect purchasing. This includes taking strategic ownership of entire category spend, developing strategies to reduce total cost of ownership -including vendor management, demand management, and governance/compliance -to achieve initial step change total cost of ownership reduction and ongoing year-over-year improvements.
*roles and responsibilities*
- contract management and fee structure definition for indirect suppliers.
- knowledge of information technologies and warehousing and 3pl cost structure is desirable
- negotiation of fees for domestic (us and mx) and import/export routes
- identification of ground transportation optimization opportunities (palletization, box design, etc.)
- negotiate agreements with supply chain management suppliers like ups, fedex, dhl, etc.
- oversee development/ execution of strategies through the sourcing process for specific category group of spend areas
- oversee end-to-end sourcing process: strategy, market analysis, negotiation process (rfxs), supplier selection and contract creation, and buy channel management.
- lead and manage multi-functional stakeholder teams on specific strategic sourcing initiatives or projects.
- drive best practices.
- measure and track internal performance within each spend category.
- monitor strategy implementation to ensure benefit realization.
- drive annual productivity improvements in each spending category.
- drive value through supplier relationship management
*required qualifications*
- bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, sourcing, supply chain management, finance, or engineering
- minimum of 7 years' experience in sourcing, operations, supply chain, commercial, or equivalent consulting experience.
