role overview:
we’re looking for a dynamic health, safety, and environmental manager to oversee two production sites with a workforce of 750 employees. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with local regulations, implementing global hse initiatives, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and safety excellence. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance across all levels of the organization, support sustainability objectives, and manage certifications and audits.
a diplomado en seguridad e higiene industrial or an equivalent program accredited by the stps is required to ensure compliance with mexican safety standards and regulatory frameworks.

key responsibilities:
* drive and develop the company’s hse strategy alongside site leadership, promoting innovation, sustainable development, and alignment with group goals.
* provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the site team on all hse matters; serve as the main point of contact internally and externally.
* develop, implement, and monitor hse goals, kpis, and performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement and organizational alignment.
* ensure compliance with local hse regulations, communicate updates to leadership, and maintain up-to-date hse policies and procedures per the imi hse framework.
* conduct and lead internal and external risk assessments, audits, inspections, and safety gemba walks; ensure timely action planning and execution.
* investigate accidents and incidents in collaboration with site leaders; analyze trends and implement improvement plans.
* lead site-level participation in the hse excellence framework, including conducting at least two assessments per year across other group sites.
* coordinate industrial hygiene programs and medical oversight with visibility to leadership, hr, and operations teams.
* manage iso 14000 and clean industry certifications, including biannual management reviews.
* support hr with hse onboarding and training throughout the employee lifecycle; lead all site hse committees.
* oversee sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives (e.g., solar panel projects).
* ensure availability of safety resources, materials, and equipment to support regulatory compliance.
* manage facility security programs, including vendor oversight and third-party audits, as well as cleaning services for both queretaro sites.
critical competencies for success:
* qualified to nebosh international certificate or equivalent local hse certification: diplomado en seguridad e higiene industrial or similar programs accredited by stps.
* minimum of 5 years of experience in an hse-related role with strong technical and practical knowledge of hse regulations.
* proven success in an hse leadership role, with experience in similar operational and industrial environments.
* demonstrated experience managing teams, driving results, and leading improvement initiatives through strong influence and communication.
* familiarity with metrics-driven environments, including the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports.
* experience working in high-performance, process-oriented environments, with a creative and innovative mindset.
* background in global manufacturing or technology industries, with the ability to balance strategic and operational priorities.
* experience in manufacturing settings involving die casting, machining, or plastic injection processes, with knowledge of associated risk analyses.
* in-depth understanding of hse management systems, environmental regulations, fire safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, incident reporting and investigation, security protocols, auditing, and overall safety processes.
* certified lead auditor for iso 14001.
* familiarity with iso accreditation frameworks; knowledge of iso 19011 auditing is a plus.
* demonstrated experience implementing continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
* strong computer skills, including proficiency in microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint.
