the senior accounts payable (ap) accountant has solid understanding of and experience with the full ap cycle. Is responsible for accounting activities, analyzing and reporting data to management, monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls and implementing new controls or revisions as needed, drives and or supports continuous improvement projects, business system integrations, upgrades and clean-ups, departmental process documentation, training of new employees and special projects as assigned.

responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- continuously analyzes current processes for quality and efficiency improvement opportunities
- reviews, approves and reconciles weekly payment settlements
- analyzes data to determine month-end accruals and related journal entries plus ap metrics
- follows up on past due invoices, credit notes and grir aged items and facilitates resolution
- trains incoming personnel on sap and ap processes and procedures
- reviews and approves work performed by accounts payable analysts and interns
- ensures compliance to internal controls
- supports internal and external audits
- escalates issues to manager, as needed
- replies to ap inquiries in a timely manner
- business partners with finance, other functional areas and external business partners to determine root cause and resolution for p2p process issues and to align processes across the region
- drives and or participates in special projects as assigned
*background & skills*:
- bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience
- strong knowledge and experience working in sap, accounts payable module
- proficient in english
