We are expanding our operations and seeking a skilled purchasing manager to join our team at our tijuana, mexico office. This role requires a dynamic individual with experience in manufacturing and managing buyers in multiple offices. Fluency in english is essential.
The purchasing manager will oversee the procurement process, manage the purchasing team across multiple locations, and ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services necessary for our manufacturing operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and excellent english communication abilities.
*key responsibilities*:
*procurement management*:
- develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
- oversee the entire procurement process, from supplier selection to contract negotiation and purchase order issuance.
- ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in all purchasing activities.
Team leadership:
- manage and mentor a team of buyers located in multiple offices.
- provide guidance and support to ensure the team meets performance targets and procurement objectives.
- foster a collaborative and efficient work environment within the purchasing team.
*supplier relations*:
- build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- evaluate and monitor supplier performance, conducting regular assessments and audits.
- address and resolve any issues or discrepancies with suppliers promptly.
*cost control*:
- identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to reduce procurement expenses.
- monitor market trends and conduct cost analysis to ensure competitive pricing.
- negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
*inventory management*:
- collaborate with the production and inventory management teams to ensure optimal inventory levels.
- implement strategies to minimize excess inventory and reduce lead times.
- monitor and analyze inventory metrics to improve efficiency and reduce costs
*reporting and analysis*:
- prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.
- analyze procurement data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on analysis.
*qualifications*:
- education: bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- experience: minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- proven experience managing a team of buyers across multiple locations.
*skills*:
- strong leadership and team management abilities.
- excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- excellent verbal and written communication skills in english.
- fluency in english is essential; proficiency in spanish is highly preferred.
