Commodity manager oversees the development and delivery of sourcing strategies, manages commercial supplier relationships, supplier performance, and cost management for assigned categories, ensuring no disruption to the supply chain of raw materials, components, products, or services to manufacturing sites by providing value to the company.
in this role, your responsibilities will be:
* implement commodity strategies to procure components of the assigned commodity in north america, asia, and other regions.
* support cost-effectiveness and establish a consolidated supplier base for products and components as per the commodity strategy.
* develop, expand, and consolidate the current supply base, avoiding single-source risks.
* assist the sourcing group in consolidating insource/outsource strategies for commodities.
* contribute to project efficiency by controlling costs and enhancing benefits during new part development.
* monitor commodity trends, market indexes, budgets, and overall supply constraints.
* support manufacturing sites and distribution centers with supplier-related issues.
* attend business meetings and stay updated on developments.
* serve as the primary contact between suppliers and manufacturing sites or other departments.
* develop plans for supplier performance improvement, cost reduction, cost avoidance, and projected savings.
* assist with new product introduction and phase gate implementations.
who you are:
a supply chain professional with 6-8 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, demonstrating increasing responsibilities.
for this role, you will need:
* develop initiatives to elevate the commodity to organizational targets by collaborating across cross-functional teams and manufacturing locations. Coordinate actions to prevent shortages, improve supplier relations, and lead cost avoidance efforts.

* experience in strategic procurement deployment
* knowledge of npi/npd projects as a sourcing leader
* negotiation skills
* handled spend exceeding $50 million usd in one or multiple categories
* proven supplier performance and selection experience
* expertise in:
* thermoforming & thermosetting plastics
* injection molding for plastics, rubber, and gaskets
* handling different resins for molding rubber and plastics
* strong supplier relationships with resin distributors and fabricators
* tooling/mold fabrication
* glass molding, finishing, tempering, polishing, and sandblasting
* glass mold fabrication
* insulation materials and fabrication processes
* ul certification processes
* pricing market trends, raw material indexing, and contract management
