position purpose / summary:
this role will support the prototyping and design verification and validation of remanufactured and new disc brake calipers for product launch into the automotive aftermarket by being responsible for engineering development, analysis, testing, sourcing, and manufacturing support. The position will contribute to top-line revenue growth through regular launches of new products into the market, as well as cost reduction through continuous improvement projects to increase productivity and reduce process waste.
core responsibilities and activities:
* perform geometric, dimensional, and identity analysis of original equipment parts through reverse engineering
* create and maintain bills of materials in mrp system for designated product
* provide sources for and manage development of new product components
* prepare prototypes and ppap samples for hydraulic testing, manage test reports, and evaluate testing results
* review, maintain, and provide modifications/approval of supplier part drawings
* conduct form, fit, and function testing of ppap samples to oem and bpi specifications
* generate and maintain testing specifications/procedures and support the design and procurement of testing equipment
* provide technical support to product management, manufacturing facilities, global sourcing, planning/purchasing, r&d, or other teams
* support supplier development and continuous process improvement through value engineering and value analysis
* review and pass engineering judgment on engineering change requests and deviations from manufacturing facilities
* analyze warranty trends for product improvement needs and opportunities, and address warranty issues
* maintain oe, ppap, and component sample libraries
* support internal customers, including technical service, marketing, and sales
* other departmental duties as assigned by the reporting manager
skills:
* strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize complex range of activities
* highly developed attention to detail
* strong knowledge of cad software (preferably in solidworks)
* excellent verbal and written communication skills in english and spanish
* strong knowledge of disc brake caliper function
requirements:
* minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or ten years of similar experience
* strong knowledge of cad software (preferably in solidworks)
* english (80% plus willing to learn)
* travel to us as needed
