*reporting relationships*:
the advance manufacturing engineer/sewing will report to the dir of advance manufacturing and will not have direct report responsibilities.
the sewing specialist will work closely with the hfi plant operations teams, tooling/product engineering, quality managers and sales, during the development and launch phases of the program.
*major duties and responsibilities include*:
- manage ongoing development and improvement of hfi sewing-in-place and conventional sewing processes, through new technologies and improvement of processes and systems.
- coordinate efforts to maximize utilization of capital sewing equipment across all hfi plants, thru utilization of effective oee tracking and visual management systems.
- maintain accurate, current plant & equipment capacity and utilization information, ensure manufacturing location decision for new business, can be made with long term, strategic perspective.
- support new program rfq and feasibility studies completion, with sales, costing and product engineering.
ensure alignment align with new technology and current process capability.
- maintain current plant & equipment capacity information, ensure manufacturing location decision for new business, can be made with long term strategic perspective.
- review and identify manufacturing and process needs with the product development engineers to ensure dfm and pfema is complete prior to product reaching the production facilities.
- develop initial capacity analysis, as required along with associated customer capacity forms on all new model products pre and post award.
- support proto-type build activities at corporate, validate process capability, ensure all process and quality concerns are addressed.
- support pre-production build activities at plants, ensure continuity from proto-build to plant is maintained, and validate that process and quality concerns were addressed.
- complete hfi's new model pmp deliverables and tasks assigned to advanced manufacturing engineering from pi thru dv gates as required.
- support tooling engineering with buy-off and install of capital and tooling at the manufacturing locations for new model launches.
- lead effort to define manufacturing and process standards for hfi, this includes standardizing capex and tooling to be used in all hfi facilities.
- support plant process engineering teams with the resolution of highly visible pre/post hand-off product quality issues.
- support development of "best practices" for sewing and assembly processes, working closely with engineering managers, tooling and product design teams.
- plan and coordinate optimization projects, as required.
- travel to all hfi manufacturing facilities will be required.
